FAQ’s

PPS is a private sanctuary- not open to the public. We will host an open house for the community later this year, and annually thereafter. An education program for students and interested groups is currently under development. We also have volunteer and donor programs. Please contact us at: admin@baboonsanctuary.org to see how you can get involved.
The Baboons who will make the sanctuary their home will come from research facilities and the pet and entertainment industries.
All the Baboons at PPS go through thorough medical exams before they arrive at the sanctuary, and we have a licensed veterinarian who will oversee their medical and nutritional needs.
All the animals are released to the care and ownership of the Peaceable Primate Sanctuary and will not be removed from the sanctuary nor returned to any previous owner or facility.
The life spans of baboons vary, much like our own, however an estimate with good care and nutrition is 20-30 years.
Peaceable Primate Sanctuary welcomes volunteers who have love for animals and a passion for helping the community. Our volunteers have diverse backgrounds and bring a variety of experience, knowledge and skills to PPS. There are volunteer opportunities in the following areas: special events, sanctuary care, enrichment, gardening and social media. Due to the amount of training required to work with our baboons, volunteers will not work directly with the baboons, or in the indoor areas where the baboons are housed.

The PPS Volunteer Program also offers corporate volunteer opportunities. We accept corporate groups throughout the year for various projects including facility maintenance, gardening, baboon enrichment, and special events. If you are interested in becoming a PPS volunteer please email volunteer@baboonsanctuary.org for an application and additional information.
